Cherokee Shuffle, my latest song obsession. It’s so good! I love the dip into f#m. The light show in the background is courtesy of my kid who was building something at the time. #clawhammer #banjofeed #banjo #oldtime
Got introduced to the tune „Dry and Dusty“ at the last oldtime jam session and it’s a good one, I like it. #clawhanmer #banjo #oldtime #banjofeed
A glorious rendition of Joe Morley's "A Georgian Breeze" from Chris Sands with Alexis Rogerson on fortepiano.
Chris tells me this was one of the first banjo tunes he ever heard, it was played to him by the chap he bought his first banjo from!

You may be cool. But you will never be Pete Seeger in a suit playing long neck banjo against the New York skyline cool.

Been very very busy the last few months but managed to learn a new song at some point, Old Mother Flannaghan. #clawhammer #banjo #banjofeed

6/8 jig time (or 9/8 if you’re doing a slip jig) is really tricky for clawhammer banjo but I think I’m getting the hang of it. The song is part A from „the Blarney Pilgrim.“ parts B and C are not shown because i cant play them as well as this section. #banjo #banjofeed # clawhammer
Sorry about the rain sounds, it seemed like a nice time to play something out on the balcony. The song is „Kitchen Girl“ and the tuning is sawmill. #banjo #banjofeed #clawhammer
Driving my in-laws crazy during this visit by playing this song 1000 times a day. Song is „Five Miles From Town“ and I can’t believe we’re still limited to only 1 minute videos. #banjo #clawhammer #oldtime #banjofeed
Learning this one just now. It's such a barnstormer youtu.be/FKYpviq4kak?... #banjofeed
Anyone got tips or resources for playing back up with a band? Ideally playing frailing/clawhammer? I'll be trying out for an Americana old timey style band in a few weeks #banjofeed
My Nechville Nextar that I purchased from Noam Pikelny in 2007. Met him in Montreal before a PB show. He signed the resonator and we played some tunes. Played every day. Re-fretted twice. Played in a touring band for 5 years.
Post a photo of your main banjo and a little of its history.

Victor is an interesting player. First heard about him when I tuned in to the Woodsongs Old Time Radio Hour to listen to Noam Pikelny. Noam and Victor play a duet at the end of the attached video called the Florida Blues. #banjofeed

This was the video that made me aware of BB Bowness as a serious banjo player. She is a really great arranger for the banjo and is continually pushing the limits.

"All on Account of the Tarifffs" Great fun topical song from the 1890's but could have been (mostly) written yesterday.
Sung by Patricia Hammond and check out the banjo playing from Matt Redman .

I removed the last 5 frets on my Epiphone open back and sanded the fretboard back to make a DIY frailing scoop. Here's "Cluck old hen" in G modal tuning #banjofeed
Alison Brown is an incredible banjo player and composer. She has broadened the banjo's horizons immensely. My favourite CDs are Fair Weather and Quartet, but they're all really great. See her live, if you get the chance!

Old audio file of me playing 3 tunes from Chris Grotewohl's book Celtic 5-String: Playing Irish Dance Tunes.
Tunes: The Silver Spear/The Drunken Tinker/Rollin' in the Rye Grass. Keys: D/A/D
These were the early days in my single-string journey. I'm better now.
