Letโs be crystal clear: if a party wants to control who you love, how you identify, what you read, and what you do with your bodyโitโs not about โfreedom,โ itโs about control in a flag costume.

Being a rebellious kid meant saying no to reading assigned books.
Being a rebellious adult means buying and reading/rereading those books in protest against a government that wants to dumb us all down.

Inspired by @retired-librarian.bsky.social leading the #bannedbooksclub I picked up my own copy of The House on Mango Street. Also added these two titles to my tbr! #bannedbooks #booksky #readingbannedbooks
Re: Last Night at the Telegraph Club. Of course, the โalternate sexualitiesโ theyโre referring to is likely tied to the main character being a lesbian. ๐คท๐ฝโโ๏ธ #bannedbooksclub
Re: Telegraph club. As someone who actually read the book, i know that none of the experiences the main character has are graphic or lewd. They just depict the life of an average teenage girl. Teens explore and itโs wild to pretend that this book would be the inspiration for that. #bannedbooksclub
According to the author Malinda Lo, Book Looks rated Last Night at the Telegraph Club as โNot For Minors,โ and claims the book โcontains obscene sexual activities; sexual nudity; alternate sexualities; and derogatory term.โ www.malindalo.com/blog/2023/10... #bannedbooksclub

Ways to access books if your school district has banned them, a thread: The Libby app. This is one of my most used apps on my phone because I can add e-cards from my local library, state library, AND the Queer Liberation Library to check out e-books and e-audiobooks. libbyapp.com #bannedbooksclub
