Apologies for (another) sad photo. If you live between #Wollongong & #Ulladulla, can you please send us a DM - #birds are washing up on beaches in this area. We need help recording where, how many & which species

Unfortunately, we’re now getting records of #BeachedBirds further north, between #Eden and #Newcastle. It’s hot, so people are on beaches - we need to know what they’re seeing 🐦🙏 #CitizenScience #shearwaters #seabirds
#ornithology friends in south-eastern #Australia: please be on the look-out for #seabirds on beaches. Sadly, they will probably start washing up in ~2 weeks… #CitizenScience #BeachedBirds #AdriftLab #OzBirds
Our new "Beached Bird Data Submission Portal" will 'go live' in the next few days. In the meantime, have a read of the two articles linked above on #OceanWarming & #TheBlob

How to identify a Fairy Prion: small birds (about half the size of a shearwater) with blue-ish feet and a grey “v shape” pattern in the feathers on their back (see photos).
#LittlePenguin numbers on #Tasmanian & #Victorian beaches are low, but consistent. The birds are fresh, which suggests more will wash up. Please share & send us photos/data!

Numbers of #BeachedBirds are finally slowing, but we still want your data (zeros are data too!) ⬇️
First records of #BeachedBirds received for #Tasmania - if you live in the area, we need your help! Report here ➡️ adriftlab.org/news/reporti...
Ideally, we’d like one photo per bird. Why? In #Australia, you might encounter two #shearwater species that look similar: one has a small black beak & the other a larger white beak with distinctive black tip #CitizenScience #BeachedBirds
