A young woman, Marlow, stands in her office. Text reads: I've made the mistake of thinking I might actually make it home this evening. It's late afternoon--the sun's starting to dip, long shadows snake across my desk. I'm no stranger to working into the thin hours, but with no urgently pressing cases for Marlow & Associates, I'm thinking I might just close up shop soon. That's when she walks in. Just the face I'm sick of seeing. My lack of a secretary betrays me, as with but a single knock she sees it fit to let herself right in. Should I be grateful for the knock?
Still in the office. the camera looks over Marlow's shoulder at her Ex, Hal, who leans over smugly and extends a cigareillo at her face. Text reads: "You don't mind lighting me up, do ya?" she says already riflign through her pockets for her cigarillo case. I'd tell her to piss off, except it would just prolong whatever bullshit brought her here. Although I do consider a different kind of "lighting her up". Two choices are presented: "piss off" is struck out and unavailable, with the only option being "light it".
An antique crystal radio. Text reads: "Crystal radio." I watch the faint glimmer pulse as I carry it with me, circling the edges of the room. "Lucky find. This one has an exposed diode, too." "and how does this help us?" her chin is cocked out arrogantly, but her voice betrays a hesitant curiosity.... in a "i wouldn't admit my lack of knowledge" kind of way. funny thing, that, considering I've definitely explained this to her before.
