🐻 #BearWitnessDay honours #JordanRiverAnderson and his family, and calls for the full implementation of #JordansPrinciple — a legal obligation, named in Jordan’s memory, that exists to ensure First Nations children in Canada can access the services they need, when and where they need them.

So, today is actually #bearwitnessday but I posted yesterday because I’ve been trying to get buy-in from my students for several years now and I had to do it on a school day. The buy-in hasn’t been great and somewhat disheartening.

#JordansPrinciple exists to ensure that First Nations children have access to social, health & educational services they need and deserve.
As #BearWitnessDay approaches this Saturday, I encourage everyone to reflect on Jordan’s legacy and to commit to the ongoing work needed to ensure equitable access to care and support for First Nations children across Canada.
On Wednesday, I had the honour of joining Senators Audette, Greenwood, Harder, Klyne, and White to host a #BearWitnessDay on Parliament Hill in partnership with the First Nations Child and Family Caring Society of Canada and the Assembly of Seven Generations.

Just a reminder that today (May 10) is #bearwitnessday in honour of #jordansprinciple . This little guy has been with me since the day I was born several decades ago, missing his eyes and nose but still keen to see equity and fairness for First Nations kids.
