Mellon Artist in Residence Beatrice Capote performs original choreography summoning the life of Reyita, or María de los Reyes Castillo Bueno, an Afro-Cuban woman whose testimonial novel chronicled her life across the Cuban twentieth century. Capote’s dance performance will be accompanied by the Román Díaz Ensemble. It will be followed by an audience conversation with the artist and ensemble.
