Although the castle was half covered in vines, and its outbuildings were all collapsing in on themselves, the castle walls stood solid and whole, not a stone crumbling; its roofs were intact, its tower erect. It had stood for centuries, and would stand for centuries more. But its windows held only darkness, silence lay thick on its halls; and whatever walked there, walked alone. (The line "and whatever walked there, walked alone" is highlighted)
So maybe this is too obvious a homage/borrowing from The Haunting of Hill House, but 1) I love this line, and 2) if it makes the reference explicit, maybe that's not a bad thing 😁

I might work on some other things too, but most of my "making new words" writing efforts this NaNo will probably be concentrated on EOD, the final book of my epic gay romance/grimdark fantasy trilogy. Sareb has faced his past - now he must face his destiny.
Made my mountain-shaped word count plan. Today's goal is only 244. But I'm so out of it, even that seems insurmountable >.<
And I will probably write a little bit I need to add to #BeauAndTheWolf, rather than working on #EOD..
