Even though I missed out on #BeheMay (which is completely on me), I'm considering maybe doing what I had planned next month once I get everything done. Nothing says that you can only do Behemoth stuff in May, right? 🙂

A commissioned black-and-gray doodle of a robed behemoth dragon wizard accidentally clonking himself on the head from his own conjured meteorite. He's off-balance from the impact and barely balancing on one foot, sporting a silly pained look on his face, and ready to fall over. The fiery meteorite keeps going after bouncing off of him. Below is some pixelated text, made to parody an old RPG text line, which says "Sarm casts Meteorite (level 1)". He's wearing a simple robe and clutching an undersized wand in his right foreclaws. Really, it's a miracle he hasn't dropped it, what with his lack of thumbs and all.

Luckily-timed with #behemay, a fun quick sketch of my guy by @ramensalt.bsky.social! His cartoony style made this perfect.

As a behemoth makes up much of his design, I'd like to imagine their magical meteor-themed quirks sometimes get in the way when he casts a spell.

So, fun fact about the wizard Q: he (rarely) dabbles in the Art of the Raid Boss, partly as a means to exercise his transformation and enchantment arts, and partly as an excuse to simply assume a different shape. In the spirit of the season, one might find him bolstering his form in scale and power in reverence to those great behemoths, storied in tales spun of crystal. A powerful physique, thrice bolstered... ...savage claws, fit to tear and smother... ...a fearsome tail, to act as weapon and display alike... ...and a behemothian visage, bearing those grand telltale horns and fangs, his eyes underneath his now-bestial mask. His one addition is a taur-modifier, for mobility, strength, and, of course, presentation. In this form, a behemoth of void-black pelt, thrumming with energies arcane, he welcomes would-be challengers and honours them with an arcane spectacle, should they choose to brave it (provided they play nice - he grows delightfully unfair otherwise). (Worth noting that, with the Blue Mountains -and his area therein- being so remote, it is rare that he actually gets to 'fight' anyone like this (the resident godmoth notwithstanding). He welcomes the challenge.) The crown jewel of his arsenal as a behemoth -- and the Enrage he teases throughout his fight-- is, naturally, Meteor; here fashioned as a sphere of celestial energies, bound and jewel-encrusted in an arcane lattice. (It is cast as: Behemothian Arcanum :: Stellated Invocation :: Meteor) As a raid boss, his only hard condition is that his hat is left to be. Those that take it off by accident get one pass. Those that take it off by force get his Enrage: 90 seconds, and Stellated Meteor. (Rumour has it that an overzealous warrior once slugged him hard enough to knock his hat clean off, mid-fight. It is said that the warrior's party had a heck of a time on the return trip, after Q respawned them. Given that they had to get used to being towering behe-taurs themselves, one can probably see why.)

The circle that Behe-Q uses to prepare his cast of Stellated Meteor is one of many that Q uses to channel celestial energies in general. This specific display is what one might see, whenever Q channels the energies of the stars in order to infuse a form with the energy of the stars. When channeling for behemothian might (or, more casually, to Behefy a target), a whole Meteor's worth is funneled into the cast, with Q hovering above the arcane array in preparation for the surging form to come. Would-be challengers are actually treated to this display before Q initiates their fight. Observant adventurerers are often quick to identify it as a hint for what can possibly happen when a Stellated Meteor makes contant. The best ones keep that knowledge to themselves before the fight is over. And, with little luck, even get to experience it first-hand. (The main reasons this display exists? -I was personally quite pleased with how the circle turned out and wanted to show it in full display, unobstructed by otherwise-perfectly-fine behe bulk. And, as a natural consequence, it also ended up being a sort of scale reference for that. -I also really liked trying different palettes for it! So, there you have it! Stellated arts in full display!)
