Day #4 of my Anglo-Greek decameron. Having reached #Athens yesterday, I spent the day in the wonderful historical archives of the always hospitable #Benaki Museum, exploring #YannisRitsos’s collaboration with #NikosStangos and #PenguinBooks.

I love the #embroidery and colors and pattens. It’s remarkable, each village had unique #garments and Greece is smaller than Alabama. I’m thinking all the work it took to make them. #beautiful
From the #Benaki Museum in #Athens #Greece from a past trip. First pic are #Cycladic Period from 3,500 to 1,000 BCE, next is from the #Geometric Period 900 to 700 BCE and last are from the #Classical Period 5th century to 4th century BCE.

De Griekse fotografe Elly Sougioultzoglou-Seraidari (1899-1998), was bekend onder de naam Nelly’s.
Zij doneerde haar werk in 1984 aan het Benaki Museum. Een paar foto’s zijn te zien in de Ghika Gallery van dit museum.
