Day 15
Ladder + Spoon
Easter is coming and I keep thinking about those egg-on-a-spoon races.
The concentration it took to keep steady.
I felt that same kind of off-balance the last time I stood on a ladder.
Both are tools around the house. Rather important ones.

Day 14
Thermometer + Bag
A thermometer tells you when something’s wrong.
A bag holds the things you bring when you want to be prepared.
When my kids were little, I carried a thermometer in my bag. I found it once next to a warm juice box.

Day 13
Elevator Button + Lipstick
I press elevator buttons without too much thought.
I press lipstick on my lips as well.
One tells the building where I want to go.
The other tells people how I want to be seen.

Day 12
Pencil + Fence
Both can be made of wood.
A pencil sketches a line that might still be erased.
A fence — wood or steel — is meant to keep things out.
One holds possibility.
The other holds a position.
I’d rather start with the pencil.

Day 11
Curtain + Receipt
Both curtains and receipts seem to fade with time- like some memories.
A curtain hides things.
A receipt exposes them.
Did you really drink that much at the bar?
Maybe it’s time to close the curtain again and take a nap.

Day 10
Hairbrush + Border
Not every hairbrush works on all kinds of hair.
Some pull or break or get tangled.
Borders are like that too.
Drawn to create order, but not always for you.
Both can seem simple but need to be handled with care.

Day 9
Sock + Museum
I like losing myself in museums, and I’m always losing socks.
Socks get holes.
Museums remind us there are holes in what we think we know to be true.

Day 8
Stapler + Toothpaste
A stapler holds papers together.
Toothpaste keeps your teeth in place.
One gets touched by everyone.
The other feels personal. And both help with clean-up of sorts.
#BetweenThings #MischiefMinds #TinyExperiments
Day 7
Peanut + Map
A peanut is something you eat without thinking although it takes some cracking to get there.
A map is something you look at when you don’t know where you are. Also takes some cracking.
I am allergic to maps.

Day 6
Moss + Battery
Moss is ancient.
A battery has a shelf life.
Moss needs water to live.
A battery stops working if it gets wet.
Opposites attract?

Day 6
Cruise Ship + LinkedIn
Oooh! These two have a lot in common!
Everyone trying to act like they’re having the best time — networking, relaxing, improving themselves.
But you’re stuck in one place, making small talk, pretending you’re not slightly nauseous.

Day 4
Tupperware + Desire
Tupperware makes me think of housewives and leftovers.
Of trying to hold onto something that used to be hot.
I’m going through menopause, and I’ve been thinking about what it means to feel desirable — or not. Deep pairing!

Day 3
Elevator + Banana
This one was hard.
Here’s what I got: both involve timing.
A banana’s good for like… 12 minutes.
An elevator ride is short, but never short enough when someone awkward gets in.
#BetweenThings #MischiefMind
Day 2
Sponge + Deadline
A sponge absorbs everything.
A deadline squeezes it out.
Basically how my brain works. I soak up ideas, facts, feelings — and then somewhere near the deadline, it all gets wrung into something usable.
Not always clean or pretty.
#BetweenThings #MischiefMinds
Okay. Day 1.
Teacup + Resistance.
I like this pairing.
Makes me think about quiet forms of strength — how a teacup is delicate but built for heat, and how resistance isn’t always loud.
Anyway, that’s what came up.
#BetweenThings #MischiefMinds
This is Mischief Minds — a space for curiosity, reflection, and play.
New series: Between Things
I’m committing to a small daily ritual:
connecting two unrelated words and seeing what shows up.
Tiny moments of association, intuition, mischief.
One a day. 100 days.
