To celebrate #BlackHistoryMonth, I’m posting one Black bishop from The Episcopal Church each day. A little extra Black excellence for your timeline.

A standing woman smiles warmly at the camera, dressed in beautiful orange and white bishop garb. She holds a silver crozier (a bishop’s staff) in front of her. She has glasses and either short hair or her hair pulled back. She’s wearing a miter (pointy orange hat), an embroidered cope (cape thing), a cassock-alb (white robe), and a matching orange stole.
Ketlen Adrien Solak is the most-recently-consecrated Black bishop in the Episcopal Church as of November 13, 2021. Originally from Haiti and a lover of music, the Bishop of Pittsburgh is known for integrating lyrics and music into her preaching.
