City Councilor Julia Mejia talked of #BlueHillAve BRT (bus rapid transit) discussions. She was blunt - she represents the community and if people want bus, ped or bike infrastructure they need to speak up, advocate for the benefits and persuade neighbors.

#boston i agree with this. #bluehillave bus lanes make alot of sense. Making buses free doesn't do much if it takes you an hour to get anywhere because they're stuck in traffic. Long term goal honestly should be to get the trains back in that were promised to this area long ago.

Of note, the #BlueHillAve corridor in Boston is the busiest bus route in New England and used to have a trolley line until the mid 1950s.

Boston will need to build a lot more housing to help offset the increase in demand if it installs bus rapid transit in price-sensitive areas like Mattapan. One of the top neighborhood concerns about this project is anxiety about gentrification.
