Decided to rack one of our 2025s today. It's been in the same tank since November and was starting to taste a bit onioney. I quite like a bit of #lees-ageing and a hint of reduction in #Tempranillo, but you need to keep an eye on it, you don't want it to be come permanent.

Pretty happy with how this #Ábalos #VillageWine is turning out. I thought perhaps I'd picked it a bit too soon (looking for lower alcohols and harvesting logistics), but it seems to be coming round, in concrete and old oak at least. The jury's still out on the new oak.

This represents 12% #newoak in a wine destined for #Reserva. #Taransaud are classy French oak and never fail and the other two are from local cooperage #Quercus, the result of a big taste-off down there in the spring.

The #Martín is a local cooper with American staves and French heads, whereas the #Etna is American oak, toasted with (I think) volcanic stones instead of over a fire. Both quite economic options, let's see how they work out.
Very happy with our #rosado this year. Ultra early-picked #Tempranillo, 12.9% alcohol, starting to show red apples and other crunchy red fruits. Going to rack it now with a brl component and light lees to its final tank and let it over-winter and settle out.

Looking at some early #Rosado blending. I've got 10,200L in stainless, 450L (2 barrels) in 2 year old oak, 450L in 1 year old American and 450L in new American. Looking at the best way of blending a more complex #rosé which can also age a little.

Just blended up our 2024 #Blanco at #BodegasObalo #Rioja. A blend of Viura and Chardonnay, I'm pretty happy with it. Has been a year in a range of barrels, including Acacia and also concrete. 12.7% alcohol, fruity and complex.
