CD#99 #BonIver #22AMillion 2016 5 years on from the last, this album is a good deal more experimental. More treatment of vocals & instruments, barely anything sounds acoustic. I don’t love it but I can appreciate the artistic desire to move on. Weirdly I like Creeks the most. The oddest song here.

CD#98 #BonIver from 2011 & I guess they’d become a band by now. It’s miles away from the sound of the debut. All sorts of instruments colour (or get in the way of) the songs - which aren’t that dissimilar to the songs of For Emma at their heart. Anyway, it’s good with Perth & Holocene the highs.

CD#97 #BonIver #BloodBank an EP of 4 songs released in 2009 that effectively bridge the sounds from the first album and to where Justin was going. Still a lot of acoustic strumming, but also noises, and vocoders (or auto tune, whatever it is) & a piano being thumped. The songs aren’t that memorable.

In 2008 this may well have been my most played CD. Nice to revisit it. It was released with a whole narrative re JV creating it whilst holed up in a remote cabin. In hindsight the sounds are a bit samey but the tunes hold up well. Creature Fear remains my favourite.
