Coup de cœur d'Aede Lin La Mer sans étoiles est le deuxième livre d’Erin Morgenstern. C’est un one-shot et il plaira forcément aux amoureux de la littérature et aux amateurs de poésie, avec son ambiance magique et entourée de mystère. La particularité de ce roman, c’est qu’il y a plusieurs histoires qui sont liées de près ou de loin. Un roman tiroir, qui use de différents styles de narration pour faire voyager. « Aucune histoire ne s’achève jamais tant qu’elle continue à être racontée. » Zachary Ezra Rawlins, étudiant discret et sans histoire, trouve un livre mystérieux dans la bibliothèque de son université. Sans titre ni auteur, celui-ci n’est répertorié nulle part. Zachary a la surprise d’y trouver une scène très précise de son enfance. Intrigué par cette mystérieuse coïncidence, il décide d’en savoir davantage. C'est le début d'une étourdissante quête qui le mènera bientôt dans un immense labyrinthe souterrain, où trône une mystérieuse bibliothèque, sur les rives de la Mer sans Étoiles. À l'image de Zachary, le lecteur va, lui aussi, de surprises en émerveillements. Foisonnant de suspense et d'émotion, cette ouvre incomparable est avant tout un plaidoyer pour l'imagination. De ceux qui savent réenchanter le monde, et rappeler au lecteur le pouvoir ensorcelant de la littérature.
Erin Morgenstern est une autrice américaine de fantasy. Elle est née à Marshfield dans le Massachussets en 1978 et a étudié le théâtre et les arts graphiques ! Elle est principalement connue pour avoir écrit Le Cirque des Rêves en 2011, qui est devenu un best-seller. ... et des citations de la mer sans étoiles « Aussitôt que la porte s’ouvre et que la disciple en franchit le seuil, elle renonce à son nom. Quoi qu’il soit, on ne l’appellera plus jamais par ce nom, il appartient désormais au passé. Un jour peut-être, elle en aura un nouveau, mais pour le moment elle est anonyme. » « Un cursus lecture, voilà ce qu’il voudrait. Sans dissertations, sans examens, sans commentaires, rien que des lectures. » « Il croit dans les livres, songe-t-il en sortant de la chambre. Ça, pour le coup, il en est sûr. » « Tout le monde rêve de saisir ce qui existe hors de sa portée. De tenir l’extraordinaire entre ses mains et de garder le merveilleux au fond de sa poche. » « Vous et moi sommes des notes de bas de page, nous ne manquerons à personne si nous ne faisons pas partie de cette histoire. » « Vous croyez au mystique, à l’improbable, à l’impossible ? Vous croyez que certaines choses que d’autres qualifient de rêves ou d’imagination existent réellement ? Vous croyez aux contes de fées ? » « C’est étrange, non ? D’être amoureux d’un livre. Quand les mots sur les pages te deviennent si précieux que tu as l’impression qu’ils font partie de ta propre vie, parce que c’est effectivement le cas. C’est agréable de savoir que quelqu’un a enfin lu ces histoires que je connais si intimement. » « Une histoire est comme un œuf, un univers contenu dans le véhicule qu’il s’est choisi. L’étincelle de quelque chose de nouveau et de différent, mais déjà pleinement formé et fragile. Qui a besoin d’être protégé. »
Les points forts de l’œuvre Des personnages attachants Les personnages sont très agréables à suivre, et on apprécie de suite le héros, Zachary ! Il y a dans la narration ce petit quelque chose qui nous permet vraiment de voir l’individualité de chacun, leurs habitudes, leurs qualités, leurs défauts... si bien qu’ils nous semblent de suite très réels. Des lieux magiques J’ai souvent essayé de m’imaginer les décors du roman et il y a une partie un peu onirique, comme faites de pliages de papier... c’est un peu dur à expliquer. Et ce côté “société littéraire secrète” où l’on retrouve un nombre incalculable de livres a vraiment un charme à mes yeux. Un récit en plusieurs couches L’histoire est formée de plusieurs récits qui gravitent les uns autour des autres. J’aime cette idée de voir un livre dans le livre. Des références littéraires On retrouve des références au Portrait de Dorian Gray, à Max et les Maximonstres... et tant d’autres ! La littérature est un élément clé pour les personnages. Un style poétique J’étais obligée de vous mettre quelques citations : les phrases sont bien tournées et certains passages ont des allures de contes. C’est franchement magique !
On est le 6 du mois, il est l'heure du coup de cœur de mai !
