Boralex Project Moves Forward with Municipal Support for Battery Energy Storage System in Ontario
A proposed battery energy storage system (BESS) near Lennox, Ontario has taken a significant step forward in its development with Haldimand County Council approving municipal support for the project. The 200 megawatt facility, if successful, would be operational by 2029 or 2030 and store surplus energy during periods of high supply, releasing it back into the grid when demand is high. If approved, the project will provide significant economic benefits to the area, including a $400,000 annual community benefits fund that will reach $8 million over the 20-year contract period.
