When I got to this spot there were only three birds. Lucky for me one of them was a Nelson’s Sparrow. I was the only birder there and I got quite a show from this little bird.

A murder of Crows did not like us. Cackling and flying the whole time, it felt like a scene from “The Birds”. They actually cracked a branch and it fell behind our group. (Sound up to hear it). One of the birders took the branch as a souvenir.

Dejected, I turned around and there sat a male Black-throated Blue Warbler. Score!

Could be an Orange-crowned Warbler but the white patch on the wings says otherwise.

Beautiful Osprey perched at Crescent. The Northern Flickers were not happy but they didn’t dive bomb this bird like they do the Red-tailed Hawks.

I believe this Great Blue Heron is cooling off by Gular Fluttering.
A Heron vibrates the moist tissues in its throat and mouth. The airflow increases and helps to lower the bird’s body temperature.

I found Flinty! It’s been weeks since I’ve seen her up close. She’s start to lose her baby peach coloring. She was listening the squirrels screech.

I’m not sure this is Flinty, the baby Red-tailed Hawk I’ve followed since she left her nest. The head movements are similar but the body markings don’t match. I haven’t seen Flinty this close in several weeks. Do fledglings molt?
