This has really grown on me over the last year , it’s not perfect , no mirror lock up , shonky screen and it’s heavy, but it works and it works well.

Long ago I owned a Bronica ETRS and loved it and decided it was time to rekindle the love. The roll this image is from was the second test roll (don't ask about the first failed roll) from a newly acquired and beautifully functional version with a 75mm E II lens and an AE II prism finder, The plan being to have a camera I can have in a bag, shoot responsively and for it to become my daily carry. So far this camera is fitting the bill.

There is a house down the road which sits right next to the public path and has a shed, accessible by camera from the path. I never fail to shoot this window with every camera I am trying out (there have been a few). Once the chap "caught" me making an image and wondered why and also offered to "tidy it up a bit". I respectfully requested that this window is never tidied up and so far so good (it has remained the same for the last 8 years and I thank him for that.)

This shot was exposed at F4 and 1/60th handheld (the mode I wish to use for this camera) on slightly out of date Ilford FP4+. Development was in Fx39ii at 1+14 for 9 minutes.

The negative was scanned on an EPSON V800 using a bespoke negative carrier with the key being that it absolutely nails the distance the negative should be above the glass (crucial crucial crucial and nailed by many many trials and errors using index card stacks as spacers until I got the sharpest scan)

I shot this test roll with WWHFPD25 in mind and have another roll of colour to look through at some point as well.

Yes, I heard that about the Pentax 645. I am very interested in the Bronica ETRS/ETRSI - it looks like a great system. I would love to hear first-hand advice from someone who has used it for portrait shoots etc. #bronicaetrs #film
