County Wicklow: Settlement find may challenge Vikings first towns theory - researcher Dr Dirk Brandherm and his colleagues have identified more than 600 suspected house platforms in the Brusselstown Ring.

Excavations of the #Brusselstown Ring in the #Wicklow Mountains reveal the #hillfort was the largest nucleated settlement (600+ houses) in prehistoric #Ireland & Britain.
Dating from c.1200 BCE, this challenges the theory that the Vikings built Ireland's first towns.
