My 8 year old in a red ‘Save Burma’ bandana and an orange Shan outfit and my 12 year old in a red, black and white Kachin necklace and orange Shan top and multicoloured Burmese sarong. They both have thanks makeup on their cheeks. They are raising the 3-finger salute and are standing in front of an earthenware pot filled with various flowers (an Ah-Tar-Oh - အတာအိုး - which we use to usher in the Burmese new year) and a silver bowl called a ngwe palar (ငွေဖလား) which we fill with perfumed water and then dip flower sprays in to flick the water gently at people to bestow New Year blessings. This ngwe palar is filled with padauk blossom.
I’ve listed lots of ways you can help the people of Myanmar here.
Thank you, and a happy new year to all other peoples who celebrate this week 💛
