Last week, I talked with leaders from California Central Coast Joint Venture, Bay Planning Commission, and American Bird Conservancy to discuss ways that the federal government can support bird conservation efforts in #CA18 and protect our region’s beautiful biodiversity.

It was a pleasure to speak at the Salinas Valley Chamber of Commerce’s annual legislative breakfast on Friday and discuss my work to boost our regional economy and support the successful small businesses that call the Salinas Valley home. #CA18

I recently had the opportunity to tour Second Harvest Santa Cruz in Watsonville, the first food bank in California. Their staff and volunteers are doing amazing work, and I’m fighting for them in Congress to address food insecurity and reverse devastating cuts to SNAP. #CA18

I’m proud to deliver a $500k check today to Salinas Regional Soccer Complex as one of the community projects I submitted this year. This funding will help the Complex expand into the largest sports facility between San Francisco and L.A.

Trump’s policies are driving up costs in #CA18 and across the country. From soaring healthcare premiums to high grocery bills, Americans just can’t afford Republicans’ disastrous agenda.

Here in #CA18, one monument to Black history is the Victory Salute statue at San Jose State University. It depicts alumni Tommie Smith & John Carlos at the 1968 Olympics raising their fists to protest injustice against Black Americans, one of the most defining images of the Civil Rights Movement.

Bonsai Robotics is building innovative products in Watsonville to help support our agricultural sector. Thanks to Larry Jacobs for giving me a tour of his farm to see these tools at work! #CA18

Great to visit Santa Cruz METRO and ride one of their buses to the Watsonville Transit Center. The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law I voted for provided $1.1 million for their vehicle replacement project, and I’m looking forward to further opportunities to improve transit in #CA18.

I was so proud to be in Salinas today for the grand opening of the new and improved Hebbron Family Center! Thanks to state funding as well as money from the American Rescue Plan I supported, this will now be a safe and inclusive space for all Salinas residents to gather. #CA18

I’m proud to announce that #CA18 recently secured over $8.6 million for road safety improvements in our communities! I voted for the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, and thanks to that bill signed by President Biden, we’re making our roads safer for all Californians.

I enjoyed touring Hazel Hawkins Memorial Hospital in Hollister recently and meeting with their staff and board members. In Congress, I’m fighting to ensure hospitals in #CA18 receive the necessary funding to provide all of our communities with comprehensive healthcare services.

Today is the last day for this class of interns in my DC office. While their time was shortened by the shutdown, they provided a tremendous service to #CA18, and I’m thankful to Mateo, Madison, and Adrien for their hard work.

It was a pleasure meeting with Directors Ballard and Varela from Santa Clara Valley Water District to discuss progress on projects critical to keeping #CA18 residents safe and protecting our communities’ drinking water.
