Final day of Christmas Bird Count. It was a VERY cold (25F) and gusty day (20-30 mph winds), not the best for birding, but the show must go on. Our team of 8 volunteers got 47 species, which is not bad, considering.

First day of Christmas Bird Count near The Plains, Virginia. Apparently, it was "hard eagle ID day". A very tricky pair of immature Bald Eagles: 2nd yr bird with white chest, 4 or 5 yr bird in flight, looking almost like a Golden Eagle. (But it's not.)
