In the beginning of April, I had the pleasure of participating in #CERTIZENS workshop 'Changing ID Systems in West Africa' where I discussed preliminary findings on the interplay between free movement law and cross-border mobility at borderscapes along the Tano River dividing Ghana and Côte d'Ivoire
We discussed the same type of challenges that can occur when identification processes transform from oral identification to documentary identification to biometric/digital identification, especially also in military junta and hybrid regime contexts at the recent #CERTIZENS workshop in Accra, Ghana.
Off to #Accra for fieldwork at the #Elubo border town, followed by a truly exciting workshop on identification and mobility hosted by #CERTIZENS and the #UniversityofGhana ✈️
Excellent insights into (legal) practices of exclusion! 🛃 I am looking forward to continue this discussion in Accra, during the #CERTIZENS workshop taking place on April 7-9.
