Cabin Fever Challenge 2026 - Division 7 (manual Classic Irons) - Rossi 92
Cabin Fever Challenge 2026 - Division 7 (manual Classic Irons) - Rossi 92 YouTube video by CaptKordite

The Cabin Fever Challenge is an annual online test of marksmanship. This is my Rossi 92 in 45 Colt entry. Both worse than last year's and better.

It is a tiny model of a target stand with fingers holding it for scale. An 8 inch target at 100 meters is the default target for the Cabin Fever Challenge (https://www.riflechair.com/cabin-fever-challenge). If that target is at half that distance, it has to be half the size to appear to be the same size visually and thus be the same challenge. Half that and half that again at the bulls eye is now smaller than a fingernail but, if set at the other side of the basement, will appear the same as the 8 inch bullseye at 100 yards. I can then practice getting my sight picture right because my lever gun shoots to the left and I have to practice aiming to the right. And other practice. It's 10 degrees outside right now and, even if it weren't that cold, I can't get out to the range as often as I should like. Practicing in the basement and "dry fire" is a thing. I made a little target stand out of a tiny piece of cardboard and some coffee stirrers because it's cute.

An 8 inch bullseye at 100 yards is 4 inches at 50 yards. Half and half again and it's getting to a size I can practice sight picture and transitions in my basement.
