In Malagasy, there is a phrase that governs how Madagascans cook: “Tsy misy vary, tsy misy sakafo” — without rice, there is no meal. Our #ChefsForMadagascar restaurant partner La Marmite is cooking by this rule as they prepare meals for families impacted by Tropical Cyclone Gezani.
After Tropical Cyclone Gezani slammed into the city of Toamasina, Madagascar, the team at La Fortuna restaurant got to work serving its neighbors. They've served thousands of meals, cooking beloved local dishes for displaced families as food access remains difficult.

Even after Analamalotra Public Primary School was damaged by Tropical Cyclone Gezani, it's still supporting its Toamasina community by serving as a #ChefsForMadagascar meal distribution site. WCK teams are serving staples like rice, fried chicken, and carrots to families displaced by the storm.
