After Boston installed lots of protected bike lanes, bicycle traffic in downtown areas is up more than 80 percent, and downtown car traffic is down by as much as 14 percent.

Lessons here for #Nashville and @mayor.nashville.gov's #ChooseHowYouMove.

First year with a bus commute with the new job I started in April (route East ↔️ Music Row) and 226 miles of tracked bus ridin’ feels like a pretty great start! 🚌 #choosehowyoumove #nashville #publictransit

In fairness, WeGo simply doesn't have enough vehicles to provide expanded (peak) service, yet. But BNA could still commit to funding expanded WeGo bus service in the near future to supplement #ChooseHowYouMove funds. Not to mention moving the airport bus stop back to a more prominent location.

Choose How You Move Mayor O’Connell is committed to creating a modern transportation system that reduces Nashvillians’ transportation costs and helps them get where they need to go. To support this work, Mayor O’Connell is pursuing a dedicated funding source for transportation and mobility projects in November 2024. Metro activities supporting this initiative are collectively referred to as Choose How You Move: An All-Access Pass to Sidewalks, Signals, Service, and Safety in Nashville. Choose How You Move completes the entire priority Sidewalk network from WalkNBike Nashville when combined with annual capital spending, upgrades nearly 600 Traffic Signals, provides 24/7/365 Transit Service, improves Safety for all users, and so much more! Explore our stories and maps about how these transportation projects and operations will improve how we get around Nashville and Middle Tennessee.

You can view all of the upcoming improvements for #ChooseHowYouMove — all 80+ miles of new sidewalk, all 592 smart signals, and soon-to-be modern, safer redesigns of key roads — at transit.Nashville.gov

I know everyone is talking about the tunnel.
But the real transportation news of last week is that we can now use our credit/debit card or phone payments to buy a bus ticket as we hop onto WeGo! Access to public transit is easier than ever #ChooseHowYouMove.

Pretty fun around town. They bring a lot of joy and remind folks they do not need to drive a military-tank-sized vehicle to get a few bags of groceries. This is our family’s VW purchased by my father-in-law in 1962. #ChooseHowYouMove

I was surprised to see Personal Car listed last in the hierarchy, but it makes so much sense. Love seeing this list as Nashville builds and grows with the new transit initiative.

This turned into more than a two thread. Lol. But, I am glad I am not navigating traffic right now. I enjoy my ride. I am fortunate to live close to a stop. The benefits work for me. My perspective. Okay to be different. #choosehowyoumove #publictransit #stopthestigma
