A yellow butterfly hangs from a leaf within a cluster of leafy vines. The butterfly is visible from the side. Its wings are rounded and yellow, with small brown spots on them as well as two small white spots outlined in brown.

That's not a dead leaf - it's a butterfly! We've had a few butterflies this summer, not as many as we used to have before the area was so heavily developed, but their local populations are still hanging on.
