For watchers of the #ClydeMetro plans, the new South Wales Metro is something to take a look at.

Lots of differences of course (longer distance routes running into the valleys), but lots of crossover too (tram-trains to mix heavy rail network with street running in the centre of Cardiff).

Clyde Metro – my vision for Renfrewshire My view at January 2026 as to what is possible with Clyde Metro.

I’m again looking at #ClydeMetro but more narrowly in terms of Renfrewshire.

I’ve seen bits and pieces from a SPT report earlier this year that encourages my thinking but were a way off from knowing further with them reporting in 2027

STPR Glasgow Terminals Capacity. Is extending the Argyle Line the answer? I’ve been puzzling over the recent additions to the STPR (Scottish Transport Projects Review) on the Transport Scotland website without much success recently. I’ve quoted them below. 24…

Another post from 2016, but an issue that the Get Glasgow Moving map and #ClydeMetro cover.

With station capacity at Glasgow Central and Queen Street, moving some existing Scotrail lines to tram makes sense.

A bigger leap is extending the argyle line

Updated. Tram/train – an opportunity for Renfrewshire? Since I wrote in March, I played with Graphics software. Neater than my hand drawings. Potential extension to a Tram/Train to Glasgow Airport in red.  A later phase of a ‘town network&#8…

A post from 2016 and very much something that I’ll return to writing about given what I’ve seen recently and I do think with available Sustrans paths on old railway routes in Renfrewshire, there’s an opportunity with #ClydeMetro

Extra Barnett Consequentials Should Fund Our Buses The extra funding from Rachel Reeves' announcement of £15bn for the English city regions should be spent wisely by in Scotland funding SPT to deliver bus franchising.

🚍🚊 Rachel Reeves's plans to invest £15bn in public transport in England’s big city-regions mean £1.3bn extra funding for the Scottish Gov 👏

That’s more than enough to deliver SPT's ambitious bus franchising plans, which are Phase 1 of #ClydeMetro 👇

How Porto somehow built a modern Metro
How Porto somehow built a modern Metro YouTube video by The Flying Moose

I've seen Porto often cited as a good example for Glasgow when it comes to imagining a future #ClydeMetro.

This is great on why & how Porto built its network in the early 2000s. Lots of similar challenges ('suburbanisation', a system dependent on 'buses stuck in congestion') & clever solutions.
