Coal spill cleanup operation begins at Teluk Kalong Beach
CHUKAI: The clean-up operation at Teluk Kalong Beach near here, which was contaminated by the spill of 7,000 metric tonnes of coal from a barge that drifted and broke, began yesterday. Terengganu Department of Environment (DOE) director Hamzah Mohamad said representatives of the barge company involved had appointed contractors to carry out cleanup work involving an area of 1.2 kilometres.
