Comet C/2025 R3 (PanSTARRS) on 29 March 2026, 2:45 (UTC). The comet has features a round, green coma and a nice ion tail, over a degree long, extending beyond the edge of the frame. Coma is about 7 arcminutes across. The two brightest stars visible are 40 and 41 Pegasi. GSO N203/800 with coma corrector, unmodified M4/3 camera. 50x30s from B4 skies, eastern Crete. Edited with DSS, SIRIL and Ps.

Comet C/2025 R3 (PanSTARRS) on 29 March 2026, finally, after nearly two cloudy weeks. It is about mag 7.5 and has developed a nice long ion tail. It will continue to brighten up to mid April, when it will pass between Earth and the Sun. #cometwatch #astrophotography

My first decent image of C/2026 A1 (MAPS). Located rather low for northern latitudes, it may become briefly very bright in early April as it plunges next to the Sun. Currently around mag 11, with condensed nucleus, round coma and hint of tail. #cometwatch #astrophotography

Comet C/2024 E1 (Wierzchos) on 24 February 2026, 5:30 (UTC), from eastern Crete. There is a faint ion tail (40' long) and the dust tail (10' long) is also visible. The green coma is 6' across. Comet C/2024 E1 is currently a southern object, but from this week it will start being visible from the north temperate latitudes as well low at the southwest after sunset. Interesting dust tails structure. #cometWatch

C/2026 B2 (Sun-Gao) was discovered by amateur astronomers Guoyou Sun and Xing Gao on January 19 and lies low in the morning sky before dawn. It is diffuse, with a coma 2' across, and a bit faint, around mag 14. #cometWatch #astrophotography

A gasy comet, appearing as an elongated green blob, is moving in front of a group of galaxies, with a face on spiral galaxy, Messier 100, dominating the view. The edge-on galaxy near the comet is NGC 4312. There is a hint of a faint tail towards 2° clock from the comet. Comet 24P/Schaumasse, at mag 10, is the brightest comet in the Christmas night sky. It is currently crossing the upper half of the Virgo Cluster, passing near many galaxies, like M100 and M91. It has a round green coma and a faint ion tail. #cometWatch #astrophotography

A comet among the stars. The comet is visible to the left and has a tail pointing towards the left. Some distant galaxies are also visible (like spiral galaxies NGC 3356 and NGC 3362 towards the right). The image was obtained with an 8-inch f/4 telescope and an unmodified M4/3 camera. 63x30s images edited with DSS, SIRIL and GIMP.

A fairwell to #3I/ATLAS, the interstellar visitor, as now it is moving away both from the Sun and Earth. It has dimmed to about mag 12 and has a tail pointing towards the Sun. It will continue getting dimmer and won't be visible in just a few months. #cometWatch #astrophotography

Dernière image (exceptionnelle) de la comète Lemmon **Deux astrophotographes viennent de présenter une incroyable image de la comète C/2025 A6 (Lemmon) réalisée il y a plusieurs semaines.** ##### Minutieux travail : On croyait en avoir terminé avec la comète Lemmon. Après avoir enchanté les nuits du mois d’octobre, l’astre chevelu n’est plus qu’un lointain souvenir. Non seulement il ne cesse de s’éloigner, mais en plus il se situe loin derrière le Soleil, ce qui le rend inobservable. Ce sont désormais d’autres cibles que pointent les astrophotographes, comme par exemple M42, la grande nébuleuse d’Orion. Mais Michael Jäger et Gerald Rhemann n’avaient pas dit leur dernier mot. Patiemment, ils ont assemblé plusieurs clichés de la comète réalisés le 26 octobre dernier avec une courte focale. En ne gardant que les images prises dans le bleu, ils nous dévoilent l’impressionnante queue ionique de C/2025 A6 : Rappelons que cette queue bleutée est composée de molécules de gaz qui se sont échappées de l’astre chevelu. Repoussées par la pression de radiation exercée par le vent solaire, elles émettent à cette occasion une lumière bleutée (par fluorescence). Cette queue ionique, qui s’étire très loin derrière le noyau de la comète, subit les effets du champ magnétique solaire qui en modifie l’aspect en permanence. Comet 240P/NEAT has now a small fragment (B) that is bright enough to be seen with modest telescopes. The nucleus shines at about mag 12 while B is two magnitudes fainter. #cometWatch #astrophotography

Interstellar #comet #3I/ATLAS in the early hours of November 20 as seen from Crete, as the weather was favorable. A faint ion tail and anti-tail can be seen as the comet is past perihelion. Nothing out of the ordinary but cool to see such a bright interstellar object. #cometWatch
