A few more finished to add to the rabble, which now number 48. Alongside 40 mutinous sepoys, half a dozen rocketeers, a couple of guns, the Prince & his bodyguard, and 10 native lancers, this pretty much makes up the native troops (plus baggage train) #IndianMutiny #CompanyRule
I hate painting white! First stage: White Primer, GW Nuln Oil Wash to all, then picking out the major muscles with Val. Off White #IndianMutiny #CompanyRule
Kit finished: Almost there, just need to add some socks and flashes to give the horse some character (maybe a mane & tail highlight too!) #IndianMutiny #CompanyRule
On to detailing the irregular horse #IndianMutiny #CompanyRule
…..and the final stage for the bodies, a wash to pull together and smooth the transitions. Manes & tails after I walk the hound (that’s not a euphemism!) #IndianMutiny #CompanyRule
First highlights on the Irregular Cavalry, which I’ve pretty much decided I’ll paint as Gardener’s Horse (2nd Lancers) #IndianMutiny #CompanyRule
Stage 2: Base colours done using GW Contrast paints. Note, the lighter shades needed 2 coats to lessen patches on the flatter flanks & neck #IndianMutiny #CompanyRule
Primed white and pre-shaded with GW Nuln Oil #IndianMutiny #CompanyRule
Going to make a start on my next batch of irregular horse this afternoon and found this excellent tutorial by @RushtheWash1 I’ll post a few pics as progress is made: https://youtu.be/9TmgE-EHxlA?si=I0_3ap-7JZ9iwKHS #IndianMutiny #CompanyRule
I’ve decided that for #CompanyRule (my #IndianMutiny rules ) the militia work better as units of 16 men, as opposed to the usual 10 men for trained infantry. As a result I’ve got a few extra militia on the painting table to fill out the ranks.
More guns for the Mutineers: I don’t use GW contrast paints for much, but over Humbrol Desert Tan rattlecan they give a lovely light wood effect (Aggaros Dunes) and decent deep red (Blood Angels Red) in just one coat #IndianMutiny #CompanyRule
Too much time on my hands now I’m retired :-) I only needed 6 lances: Easy, I thought, “I’ll make ‘em out of florists wire”! Never again, what a total ball ache #IndianMutiny #Companyrule
Today’s efforts: Empress Water Carriers (LA11). A couple of final details and basing to finish off tomorrow #IndianMutiny #CompanyRule
Another batch primed and ready for the painting table #IndianMutiny #CompanyRule
On the painting table this week it’s all “free” stuff from my over flowing bits box. I’ve managed to cobble together a unit of irregular horse (I’ll need to buy lances) and 2 Oxen pulled limbers; one for my Naval Brigade and another for the Mutineers #IndianMutiny #CompanyRule
Maj. James Paisley finished and ready to go collecting intel on the mutinous sepoys #IndianMutiny #CompanyRule
Adapting my “Mother Russia” skirmish rules for #IndianMutiny battles of up to 100 figures a side, allowing for more traditional Redcoat formations, and the additions of cannon, rockets, water carriers, ammo resupply, and spies has been fun. Still to work out sieges! #CompanyRule
Making a start on a few characters this morning: Here’s a WIP of Major James Paisley, Cartographer and British spy #IndianMutiny #CompanyRule
The British force as it stands today: another unit of Bluecaps and some loyal native horse to be added shortly #IndianMutiny #CompanyRule
I’m really enjoying painting this second unit of Neill’s Bluecaps from Empress Minis, such characterful sculpts. With the radio on and relatively easy minis to paint, I reckon I’ll have these finished off in the next 24 hours or so #IndianMutiny #CompanyRule
…..and on to the next unit of Bluecaps #IndianMutiny #CompanyRule
Final stage: 1st Madras Fusiliers (Bluecaps) are complete #IndianMutiny #CompanyRule
The first unit of 1st Madras are finished, and another 10 man unit are primed and ready for painting over the next couple of days #IndianMutiny #CompanyRule
Stage 4, Neill’s Bluecaps: Just a few details left to finish off tomorrow #IndianMutiny #CompanyRule
Stage 3, Neill’s Bluecaps: 1st highlights #IndianMutiny #CompanyRule
