I was able to see the Northern Lights very clearly three out of the four nights I was there— stunning!

Miles & miles of “lava tunnels”, formed by lava flow that cooled quickly— we were able to hike quite a ways! Not cold, & no echo (so no bats).

Walking between the North American plate (to the right) and the Eurasian plate (to the left)— walking through “No Man’s Land”!

Hot springs & geysers are everywhere. They build geothermal greenhouses nearby and run hot water through tubing in order to grow vegetation (the island is almost entirely lava rock & cannot grow).
