A corset with three embroidered panels. One showing a chart of the Arctic whaling grounds, a panorama of Arctic whaling with ships, whale boats and whales. And a polar clear looks down on the scene.
Finally finished my contribution to #CorsetRevivalProject #upcycling contemporary corsets saved from landfill. Iโve highlighted the Arctic Whaling Trade where the whalebone/baleen came from. Working on a 3d base has been a real challenge!
Red and black patterned contemporary corset spread out flat.
Undyed calico fabric on a lightbox over a drawing of a map showing Scotland, Norway , Greenland up to the North Pole
Fabric showing drawn lines in black pen with the lightbox turned off
Finished map drawn onto fabric roughly positioned onto the corset to check position and size.
Finally working on my #CorsetRevivalProject piece. The plan is to cover it with #embroidery imagery of #ArcticWhaling - where the #whalebone used for support came from. First panel will be a map showing where the whaling took place in the #Arctic around Svalbard and Greenland.
