rick roberts lead vocal on Wild Horses is stunning. CHILLS! (this authorized bootleg is really one of the best). I really do prefer the Flying Burrito Brothers versions to the stones.
#CountryRockSunday on Tuesday cuz why not.
Chip Taylor, author of "Wild Thing," who died a couple of weeks ago, tended towards country:

This is pretty borderline for #CountryRockSunday, more of a southern roadhouse boogie flavor, but I'll still post it. Blue Öyster Cult the rare band that (a) took a pretty democratic approach to creative contributions and (b) thrived doing so. Here's one of the keyboardist's numbers
Ok so there’s a Mott the Hoople country rock song from 1971. Ian Hunter is thankfully not doing a southern accent (can you imagine?!) but he does sound less like himself. No “allo!”. It’s cute but probably makes sense they chose a stompier path. #CountryRockSunday
Country-Rock artists Gram Parsons & Emmylou Harris recorded this live album in 1973. It was released in 1982. It includes many of the songs on their 3 albums "GP" "Grievous Angel" & "Sleepless Nights" They're backed on this gig by The Fallen Angels. Excellent album! #CountrySky #CountryRockSunday
So my #CountryRockSunday entry this week is from the motherfucking SADIES, a band that could (can? RIP, Dallas Good) play anything. It’s not only one of my fave Sadies songs, it’s just…one of my fave songs period.
“Pick up your shovels, boys, pick up your spades. We’ll see you again someday”
Well I only know his hit but I really like his hit. Great voice! What say you of Gary Stewart oh people of #CountryRockSunday?
#CountryRockSunday by Gene Clark on his debut solo album post Byrds. The Flying Burrito Brothers went on to cover this too on their first post Gram album. It’s really lovely. This album should’ve been huge (i say this about all Gene Clark albums).

Like I’m 13 or something. But who else’s portraits would I draw? Yer mom? Plus musicians tend to have more interesting faces than actors because they generally weren’t famous for looks alone. Anyway I chose the 2 close ups I posted above cuz they’re both #CountryRockSunday artists. Any guesses who?
For #CountryRockSunday, here are the Fargone Beauties with "Wild Thing".

I keep meaning to participate in this #CountryRockSunday all the kids are talking about, but mostly for things like this.
Some good selections today for #CountryRockSunday. Today my post remembers Jon Dee Graham who passed away on 3/27/26.

Sell Out - Neil Young song from 1966 Buffalo Springfield that wasn’t released in its day. Makes the cut for the pedal steel mimicry and undertones. The original cut has a weak la la la chorus. Agree with Neil. Stronger song without it. It is #CountryRockSunday

For my inaugural #CountryRockSunday I chose to share Split Lip Rayfield. I've been thinking about them lately. youtu.be/OsEl7kz2Ib4
Second pick for #CountryRockSunday finds the great Tim Easton updating the country murder ballad for the "true crime" era: www.youtube.com/watch?v=bST7...
For this #CountryRockSunday, I'm surprised by how few people seem to know the work of the late, brilliant Chris Whitley. His guitarwork is unparalleled, and his lithe vocals are among the most distinctive of early alt-country. Here's the title track from Dirt Floor: www.youtube.com/watch?v=ughl...
For #CountryRockSunday, what happens when you send Patsy Cline to a goth club in 1998. www.youtube.com/watch?v=waAa...
The best part of #CountryRockSunday is people posting amazing songs I’ve never heard before. If you are the one who posted Charley D. and Milo a while back THANK YOU! It’s perfect 1970 country rock in the Sweetheart of the Rodeo style.
Fascinating! What a great kickoff for #CountryRockSunday

Saing Saing Maw "Than Shin Ley Ye Khan" (Myanmar [Burma] 1970s?)
Seems based on Hoyt Axton's "Lightning Bar Blues," no slides or fiddle but with ethereal beauty nonetheless, plus some quick urgency.

soooo i do this #CountryRockSunday thing and maybe we also need a #DeathRockFriday or something? but honestly prob need to broaden that to just goth too? IDK.
this is absoolutely #CountryRockSunday worthy.
Wanted to introduce this as "Trudy Kockenlocker Rocks Out," but ran out of characters. Also wanted to cite Patti Page and Margaret Whiting as excellent "legit" singers who became R&B adapters and found their way to (or a refuge in) country as a result. For future #CountryRockSunday ? 2/2
#CountryRockSunday
Tennessee Ernie Ford & Betty Hutton "The Honeymoon Is Over" (1954)
Lotsa "legitimate" '40s-'50s pop singers at least touched on r&b and r'n'r, some veering country as a result. Is actually Betty more than Ernie who drives this to scruffiness. 1/2

Happy #CountryRockSunday from Sparkle Moore and me
Here’s one for #CountryRockSunday, one that lives more in the latter half of the band’s name and from a record that I still love to this day
