The weekend was particularly hot and we had our picnic on a bench thoughtfully placed by Benbow pond. Overlooked by this veteran Pedunculate oak who's girth is 4.95m at a height of 1.50m, two black swans decided to make an appearance.
Pedunculate oak, listed in the Ancient Tree Inventory as a veteran tree, with a girth of 4.95m. Standing on the edge of a lake on Cowdray estate in Midhurst.

Glorious weather today. Pedunculate oak, listed in the Ancient Tree Inventory as a veteran tree, with a girth of 4.95m. Benbow pond behind with a rather wonderful bench overlooking the Oak and the pond.
King Henry VIII and Queen Elizabeth I visited Cowdray House and at one point Guy Fawkes is known to have worked at the house. Would they have gazed out of these windows at the fields beyond?
