Twitter like any classroom is a space for potential conflict & discomfort and kairotic randomness. EMBRACE THE RANDOM I say #CuriousAcademic
Like a classroom space, Twitter can be a venue for asking productive & provocative questions #CuriousAcademic
Lurking is useful too. You learn a lot (in any senses of the word) in observing how ppl behave & treat each other online #CuriousAcademic
My sense of self (scholarly & personally) has changed since I joined SoMe & twitter. Openness to modes beyond own training #CuriousAcademic
Where else do you get such varied POVs/voices/ideas unpredictably & asynchronously jostling in the same space? #CuriousAcademic
As weird as it is, I enjoy twitter as a space where scholars, activists, undergrads, poets, librarians, & deans collide #CuriousAcademic
Being/performing online has risks. Trolls =NO FUN. But u can try & use twitter/SoMe to build communities u don't (yet) have #CuriousAcademic
"Curious" = 2 things: 1. inquisitiveness, wanting to learn new POVs etc. and 2. being a bit "strange," trying "weird" ideas #CuriousAcademic
Engaging with other academics online = not compulsory. But if you do it, it can bring you joy, build community #CuriousAcademic
I've found #medievaltwitter is a space for discovery, connecting w new people, moving outside disc. silos, enjoying humor #CuriousAcademic
A bit delayed but now pondering #SeriousAcademic convos. I'd much rather be a #CuriousAcademic
