Khalil Lee must've figured he wouldn't be caught because OCF lacks the resources to investigate this sort of corruption (and the shadiness of Trayon White's 2022 mayoral campaign might have reinforced that belief), but surely listing random people as contributors was going to come out. #DCElections

BOE has updated the petition list. Apparently they left some people off last night. Kathy Henderson is now listed as having turned in petitions for mayor, and Dwight Davis for council at-large, and JP Szymkowicz for AG (so Brian Schwalb is not unopposed). #DCElections

In the Republican and DC Statehood Green primaries it looked for a while like there might be some contested races, but at most 1 candidate turned in petitions for each office. For offices with no candidates there may be write-in winners. If not, the party committee can select a nominee.

I know some people don't like that candidates have to collect signatures in DC, but it's a lot better than just having to pay a filing fee. We don't have this sort of last-minute shenanigans in #DCElections.

D.C. Councilmember Kenyan McDuffie considers party switch as he eyes run for mayor The independent at-large councilmember could seek to rejoin the Democratic party, a move that would enable him to keep his job should he make a bid for mayor next year.

Maybe there's some legal wrinkle I'm missing, but this scheme for Anita Bonds to become independent so Kenyan McDuffie can go back to being a Dem seems legal to me. It's a way for KM to run for mayor without resigning his seat and triggering a special election.
