Behind the scenes: #DEAP3600 team members from Carleton are visiting the detector site to support hardware upgrades, including pumping out the argon dewar vacuum jacket. The overall plan is to slowly cool the acrylic vessel with injections of argon gas and prepare to deploy the dust removal system.

We measured how radon daughters ²¹⁰Pb/²¹⁰Po diffuse in Nylon-6 - much faster at high humidity - informing ultra-low-background detectors for dark matter & neutrinos.

One of our recent publications appeared in EPJ C last month. Using 3.4 years of data, the #DEAP3600 experiment measured the half-life of a 39Ar isotope—and found it’s significantly longer than expected.

In the effort to detect #WIMPs, one of the candidates for #darkmatter, #DEAP3600 detector has been designed for use in extremely low levels of radioactivity, 2 km underground. This summer, Cheyanne Monk assisted in hardware improvements and developed code for analysis. #CASST
