The staff in @fifecouncil.bsky.social held a Showcase earlier this month, highlightng the many insights gained from engaging with #DaringVentures. @lynburnnurture.bsky.social has led this initiative with aplomb! Here's the new video that gives a flavour of the day. www.youtube.com/watch?v=c7ey...

Todays #DaringVentures café was a busy one. "What if we got rid of the blame & got curious about the needs of the children, teachers, & parents?" Imagine a world where we got rid of blame? This is what we are working towards in Fife. @suzannezeedyk.bsky.social
Staff in Fife have done the most remarkable things with the information gained in their #DaringVentures Course during 2024 & 2025. Today is the last Cafe, where we get more insights into how they have applied it. I can't wait! @lynburnnurture.bsky.social
The impact of the #DaringVentures Course in Fife has been most remarkable. The creativity of attendees in rippling this information out to others and their willingness to weave it into their own lives. I find the stories emerging to be remarkable.
"Relational concepts help us on a professional, but we are also living and breathing people. Understanding how relationships work affects us on a personal level." There is something so profound about the work we are undertaking. #DaringVentures @suzannezeedyk.bsky.social
I really enjoyed this podcast. Suzanne and Matthew have a great energy. The Traitors fits so well with the relational dynamics of #DaringVentures
"What we have learned in #DaringVentures underpins everything that is important about education. We could use this knowledge to inform our predictions in such a meaningful way." Lovely to find this reflection coming up in the feedback I'm typing up. @lynburnnurture.bsky.social
We talked about this story at yesterdy's #DaringVentures session in Fife. We reflected on how it captures the dynamics we were studying - Rupture&Repair, Emotional Boundaries, Containment. We predicted the Bishop would not apologise. @lynburnnurture.bsky.social

In #DaringVentures, I talk about the power of #ritual and #symbolism -- how & why they work for human beings. I'm usually talking about bracelets helping children part from parents at nursery or funerals helping contain grief. But the process is the same for darker rituals & symbols. Like this one.
"Once upon a time, Fife exported belts. Now it exports nurture practice." A statement I made today in a #DaringVentures session. My goal was to help us see how far we have come in terms of how we treat children. @lynburnnurture.bsky.social

Here is the dance I showed. Note how the two parties each keep their frame. They support each other. It keeps the right amount of distance between them, so that they can move with ease & grace together. Emotional boundaries are the same. #DaringVentures

That's me waltzing. Ha ha ha.

See all those symbols, draped across her body? They signal 'belonging' to the brain. Belonging makes a person feel braver, more self-assured, more confident. It moves you away from doubt. Doubt is an uncomfortable feeling. This photo is #DaringVentures in real life. @lynburnnurture.bsky.social
And now I plan to read from Carol Craig's new book at tomorrow's delivery of #DaringVentures in Fife, with @lynburnnurture.bsky.social and others. It is full of fascinating insights about Scotland that will generate lots of contemplation!
I spent time today thinking about how fascism depends on the psychological process of SPLITTING. Few people know that's a thing, even though it's exactly what make Hero Stories feel so good. And it starts in infancy(!). I think we should talk about it more. It should be a #DaringVentures thing.
9/end. "Life is best organised as a series of daring ventures from a secure base." Thank you, John Bowlby, for just keeping going with the scientific track you were on.

Over the last 2 weeks, 40 staff in @FifeCouncil (teachers, early years staff, family support) gathered to deepen their knowldge of relational practice, through the #DaringVentures Course. Here's what they look like in courageous discussn. And here's a THREAD of what they thought:
On the first day of the #DaringVentures Course in Fife this week, we asked attendees to list things they were already doing as part of their nurture / trauma-informed journey. Here's the list from just one teacher in one school. I feel inspired by this level of commitment to relational practice.
"I would like a better understanding of what effect the relationships I build with my young people has on them."
This is one example of the hopes expressed by attendees at the #DaringVentures Course. I am so proud that my colleagues & I are able to deliver this for teachers & staff in Fife.
That's the handouts collected for kick-off on Monday with the new #DaringVentures Course! We'll be welcoming 40 teachers from Fife. I am excited & grateful that Fife Council should choose to make sure their educational staff have this in-depth knowledge on the Emotional Dynamics of Relationships.
