Long leaves, well more like long phyllodes! This is #Daviesia longifolia a widespread southwest endemic with some very long phyllodes! And, like many in the over 130 species rich genus, they can put on a spectacular floral display!

Rhomboid and spiky and a host to Pilostyles, all descriptions of #Daviesia rhombifolia! Walkin my first survey site after it was burnt two years ago and some have come back altho not depicted here. It’s a wild spread WA species that grows throughout the southwest as well as further inland as well!

The many “leaved” Bitterpea #Daviesia polyphylla! These plants cover themselves in flowers, I unfortunately was too early and only a few flowers were open! I often see this species mistaken for D. angulata, but it’s shorter phyllodes, flower time and color make it stand out from it

It’s not a bunch of sticks it’s #Daviesia triflora! Another Daviesia species in flower at kings park! Found from Perth all the way up to Geraldton, it’s found in sandy soil where its leafless stems almost blend into the background untill they flower!

Time for #Daviesia decurrens, named for its recurrent phyllodes, where the phyllodes base is winged down the the stem, making them look like wings. It’s a winter flowerer and like many Daviesia look stunning in full bloom! Also a very common widespread species in the southwest! & a Pilostyles host!

#Daviesia divaricata, #Marno, a common species of Daviesia found in the southwest in sandy soils from Busselton up to Kalbarri. This was the only one I saw with flowers when I went out

What do you call a Daviesia with long leaves… #Daviesia longifolia! On top of That, they also have quite long impressive inflorescences for the genus! Also quite a wide spread species particularly through the central and southern Wheatbelt region!

#Daviesia hakeoides puts on a show for sure! This species forms long upright stems with short phyllodes, that sprout upwards from older thicker stems, as a host for Pilostyles it’s the older thicker stem at the base which flower!

#Daviesia horrida, funnily enough this species gets called the prickly bitter pea, but that describes pretty much all Daviesia species… it has two different Phyllode structures, a way to make it look like it’s been overly grazed upon maybe 🧐?

The Library is now open #Daviesia cordata, otherwise known as the Bookleaf Daviesia due to the protective bracts that hide the developing seed pods! You can see the immature bracts behind the flowers in the second pic and the mature bracts in the third pic! #WildOz
