Today the House Oversight Committee is spending time marking up two bills about DC — neither of which is the #DCLocalFundsAct.
We're here to make it clear to Committee members that if they have time to be worrying about DC, they need to unfreeze our money.
Thank you, @lynch.house.gov, for calling out that it has been NINE WEEKS since the Senate unanimously passed the #DCLocalFundsAct, and the @SpeakerJohnson has yet to bring it to the floor. Meanwhile, he has made floor time to rename the the Gulf of Mexico. #FreeDC
Thank you, @markwarner.bsky.social, for standing up for the 700,000 DC residents who are facing difficult, completely unnecessary and harmful cuts that will impact our police, public & charter schools, firefighters, Medicaid, and clean water.
It’s time for Congress to pass the #DCLocalFundsAct.
The Senate passed the #DCLocalFundsAct UNANIMOUSLY, and without it, cuts will be made to our local police, our schools, Medicaid, and so much more.
These are not federal dollars—-they are our own tax dollars to keep our communities healthy and safe.

We’ll say it again: The House must pass the DC budget fix now. Otherwise, the city faces school layoffs, healthcare service cuts, & lost housing assistance—hitting hardest the communities who can least afford it. Read the Post editorial: www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/202...

❌ $75M Metropolitan Police Department
❌$358M Public & Charter schools
❌ $2M Libraries
❌$178M Medicaid
❌$50M DC Water
We weren’t able to make it a couple weeks ago when the CR was in the Senate, and I’m thankful we were able to join in the push today to #FreeDC and get a clean #DCLocalFundsAct passed this week.
Congress is trying to take DC's own money away from us. We know our communities deserve better.
We're out on Capitol Hill today to make it clear the House can't go on recess until they pass the #DCLocalFundsAct.
I just sent my letter. It was easy and quick. Please help tell Speaker Johnson to move the #DCLocalFundsAct.
The #DCLocalFundsAct would restore DC's power to spend local funds, and everyone from the mayor to the president agrees it needs to pass.
But time is running out.
Send a letter to Speaker Johnson to say #HandsOff DC's money: move the DC funding fix NOW: freedcproject.org/house
The #DCLocalFundsAct has so much support, and we're visiting House offices today to make sure every Member of Congress knows it! Thanks to everyone here with us today asking members to swiftly pass this good bill.
The House is back in session today and we want to make sure the #DCLocalFundsAct is one of their top priorities.
Join us on Tuesday and/or Thursday this week to visit House offices and make sure they know what this bill is and why it matters. Sign up to join us at freedcproject.org/house.
In the next few days we're setting out to call every single member of the House about the #DCLocalFundsAct. We want them to hear from a DC resident that this bill is important and that it has bipartisan support.
Help us make it happen! Go to freedcproject.org/house to get a call list and script.
