The conflict in her book is a little close to home with what is happening in our country. The original #NoKings protest? In 1774, the Virginia House of Burgesses passed a resolution for a Day of Prayer, Fasting, and Humiliation. This wasn't just a religious observance; it was an act of legislative resistance, passed in sympathy with the lawbreakers in Boston. Royal Governor Lord Dunmore immediately viewed this resolution as a "clear expression of sympathy for traitors to the King" and a "direct affront to his majesty, the King". His response? Asserting that only he or the King held the authority to declare such a day, Lord Dunmore dissolved the House of Burgesses. Seeds of Rebellion transports you to this volatile moment when Virginia formally rejected the King's overstepping, forcing the colonists to choose between loyalty and liberty.
