Absolutely underlining the complexity not only of these #DesertKite structures, but the immense planning behind - and the coordination needed to achieve their construction.

I mean what else would you expect of a #Neolithic "#shrine" built as scale-model of a #DesertKite hunting trap, including a large stone altar, hearth and ... a WHOLE CACHE OF MARINE #FOSSILS collected by hunters some 9,000 years ago?! 😲🙌

For this #SketchbookSunday I dug into my travel journal from a surveying expedition through eastern #Jordan‘s basalt desert last year.

Among the most memorable discoveries was some #RockArt - apparently depicting what in #archaeology is called a '#DesertKite'.
