“You love me,” he [Cas] repeats, and this time is wonderstruck, almost giddy. The corners of his mouth tremble as the air leaves him in bits and starts. “Yeah” Dean whispers, equally breathless. “Yeah, I do. I love you” he adds, for good measure. His heart skips a beat when he says it again but is easier, much easier than before. “I love you,” he states, louder. He’s almost worried when he sees those blue eyes glaze over with tears, but Cas keeps smiling. It’s like the dungeon all over again, but this time there isn’t any danger coming for them, Cas is closer, much, much closer —still not close enough—, and Dean has finally found his words. So, he repeats “I love you,” just because he can. And boy, isn’t it freeing.

Chapter 13 of Ghosts is taking forever but I'm writing it, I swear. Very, very slowly, however, so for now, and because you deserve it for being so patient, a small fragment of what I've already written:
