Definitely need some grippy tires to drive across this frozen lake!

Standing on the ice road that connects #Yellowknife to #Dettah (a #FirstNations community) in the #NorthwestTerritories.
The ice is estimated to be 4-6 feet thick in places. Trucks drive daily over the ice from December to April.
The clarity of the ice patterns is unreal!

Happy New Year & shown are my noontime photos from the #iceroad that stretches across #Yellowknife Bay to the community of #Dettah in the #NWT, #Canada. Very stark & #cold surroundings, but such #roads are vital in the #North where few all-weather roads exist.
