Cutting the Aid Budget impacts us all I would hope to see more condemnation & resignations on this decision which is nothing but Heartless and destabilising.

I was sad when Govt cut Overseas Aid to fund Defence but is 0.7% still relevant, given other capital flows?
0.7% Aid became UK law in 2015 based on UN Res.2626 of *checks notes* 1970(!)
UK didn't come close until Labour set up #DFID, admired globally, abolished by Tories, who also cut Aid by 0.2%.
The dismantling of USAID is wacko. They can be criticised big time, but complete shut down coz CIA Musk techbros mumbo jumbo somfink???
Will this be like in Australia & UK in last 10 years when #AUSAID and #DFID #UKAID depts were bounced around & beaten up, … but survived?
If the rumors of another EO to fold #USAID with #State are true… not totally the same beasts or political system but I think it’s worth looking at lessons of when #DfID was folded with FCO. www.instituteforgovernment.org.uk/comment/depa...

In a budget of £11bn some cash will always be spent frivolously. @TheSunNewspaper's simplified critique of #DFID spend is moronic #r4today
#DFID intervention in #SierraLeone shows what can be achieved when a policy's driven by robust science & facts rather than ideology #r4today
