Gov. Abbott cites debunked issues with Harris County for delay in calling special election; TX District 18 seat still vacant

Had I called that very quickly, it could have led to a failure in that election, just like Harris County has failed in other elections, they need to have adequate time to operate a fair and accurate election, not a crazy election, like what they’ve conducted in the past. I will be announcing that sometime soon, but I want to make sure that Harris County has all the opportunity to get this right, unlike what they’ve done in the past.

Despite 2 years and $1.5 million spent on an investigation in collaboration with the Texas Rangers, NO evidence of election irregularities was found in Harris County!

Since September 2023, the Harris County Clerk’s Office has successfully run eight elections with no issues. Elections are not “crazy” or “failed” simply because Republicans don’t win them. The more than 200,000 voters in CD-18 deserve representation! Gov. Abbott, we’re ready whenever you are!

Gov. Abbott can make all the excuses he wants, but Harris County is ready to run an election whenever he sees fit to call one.
