Prof. Moshabela admits his position as mistrusted man in a suit and dares to share the controversial point: Diamond OA is not free - someone absorbs the cost. While turning up a profit is not essential – cost retrieval is necessary for institutions supporting this model of publishing. #DOASummit2024

He admits that we haven't yet honed on how to assess and recognise that. Diamond OA with embedded inclusivity & social justice supports the evolution of evaluation in this direction, but it's a process and the community needs to persist in developing relevant ways of assessment
