Three drawings made during the #drawthealps challenge organised by @petitcrocus.bsky.social and @alexiawinterhalter.bsky.social based on their photography

My sketchbook laying open on the grass. I used soft pastels to draw a mountain with a snowy valley, there’s a big strip of blue shadow in the valley.
Reference photo from the Draw The Alps challenge. Text shows that this reference is for 26.01 and that the photo was taken by Alexia Winterhalter
DAY EIGHT
#DTAWinter2026 #DTAWinter2026Day8 #DrawTheAlps
My oil paint sketch of the reference - a series of mountains and a bright blue sky is reflected in a lake
Graphic from the Draw The Alps account on instagram showing the reference photo. Text says: Draw the Alsp Challege, Reference Photos 24.02, Photo by @ petitcrocus
DAY SEVEN
#DTAWinter2026 #DTAWinter2026Day7 #DrawTheAlps
A collection of acrylic markers and two sketches of a Chamois. One is a close up of the face (in bright colours) and the other is a a more zoomed out version with colours that are a bit more like the ones in the referenced photo. I struggled to draw this critter, but loved the playing with the markers.
Reference photo shows a Chamois on a snowy slope with bright orangey-yellow leaves in trees behind the slope
I joined the #dtawinter2026 challenge on insta and here are my entries for the first four days!
the challenge literally woke me up from my very long not-drawing coma

My sketch of a mountain landscape in oranges and blues
A gorgeous reference photo of a mountain range taken by PetitCrocus - again the highest peaks are catching a warm orange light, while the lower peaks in the foreground are in shadow
Bonus pic of my dog laying on top of my pastels and my sketchbook when I was trying to to take photos of them.
DAY FIVE
#DTAWinter2026 #DTAWinter2026Day5 #DrawTheAlps
Photo shows my box of soft pastels on the left, and my sketch on the right. You can see the snowy face of Mont Blanc behind a group of pines and other trees.
Reference photo taken by Alexia Winterhalter, showing a view of Mont Blanc from the Italian side.
DAY FOUR
#DTAWinter2026 #DTAWinter2026Day4 #DrawTheAlps
My soft pastel sketch of a boxy mountain peak. The peak is neo by hit with orange light, while the mountains in the foreground are grey and snowy.
Another stunning reference photo showing the mountain peak catching the orange light of a sunset… or maybe sunrise?
DAY THREE
#DTAWinter2026 #DTAWinter2026Day3 #DrawTheAlps
My sketch of a rocky, snowy mountain peak against a blue sky. I used colour pencil to add scribbly lines to the rocks for texture and the sky for extra swirly-ness
The reference photo provided by Alexis Winterhalter
My thumbnail sketch of snowy trees in front of a purple mountain. You can just see the tips of a white gel pen and a dark blue pencil in the top right of the image.
The gorgeous reference photo provided by the challenger organisers
