#DumpsterBillUpdate @ 4:13 PM EST - FINAL
This is the final post in this series. Trump's Kill Medicaid bill has passed. Extreme damage to America's healthcare system will play out in the months ahead.
We have lost one battle. The war is just beginning to educate Americans to #VoteBlue2026.

VOX: On a phone call with House R's, Trump warned them not to cut Medicare or Medicaid if they want to be re-elected. This is a bizarre thing to say, as his bill devastates Medicaid.
Does Trump really not understand his bill cuts Medicaid?

#DumpsterBillUpdate @ 3:58 PM EST
Trump voters in 2024 should not be surprised that he is now responsible for the deepest cuts to Medicaid in US history. In his first campaign speech in 2015, he promised to "Save Medicare & Medicaid without cuts," and then tried to dismantle them. History repeats.
#DumpsterBillUpdate @ 3:54 PM EST
Kudos to Rep. Hakeem Jeffries for stretching his #magicMinute into a record-breaking 8-hour speech exposing Trump's big ugly budget bill for what it really is: the fulfillment of a Republican dream to kill Medicaid, SNAP & other safety net programs in the US.
#DumpsterBillUpdate @ 3:51 PM EST
The most outrageous "Yes" vote came from David Valadao. He represents an agricultural district in CA with redneck MAGA farmers--and a staggering 67% of his constituency are on Medicaid--the highest in the nation. Yet, Valadao happily voted to gut Medicaid today.
#DumpsterBillUpdate @ 3:43 PM EST
All nine of California's Republican Congressmen voted for Trump's bill to destroy Medicaid as we know it. Their votes will devastate the Medi-Cal system as we know it. Here's how you can contact them to express your disgust:

As I'm sure most have heard, Trump's Tax Cuts for the Rich bill passed the House with the GOP in near-unanimous lockstep. Two Republicans voted against the bill, and only one because he opposed Medicaid cuts. The bill now goes to Trump's desk for signature.
#DumpsterBillUpdate @ 8:04 AM EST
Jeffries is continuing to speak using his #magicMinute.
An important footnote: The $6,000 tax deduction for seniors is a scam that will only benefit wealthier taxpayers. It will *not* offset or reduce taxes owed on Social Security income.
#DumpsterBillUpdate @ 7:47 AM EST
Whoops, Jeffries just stated that there are 18 million people over age 65 in the US. There's 59 million, making up 18% of the US population.
On the positive side, he is continuing to use his #magicMinute to blast Trump's Tax Cuts for the Rich bill.
#DumpsterBillUpdate @ 7:23 AM EST
It is now 7:23 in Washington DC and Jeffries is still using his #magicMinute. He appears to be about halfway through his notes.
#DumpsterBillUpdate @ 5:38 AM EST
Awesome. Jeffries is now criticizing Rep. David Valadao of California, whose district has the highest percentage of Medicaid beneficiaries in the entire country. Sixty-seven percent of his constituents are on Medicaid. And he voted yes to advance the bill.
#DumpsterBillUpdate @ 5:22 AM EST
Jeffries is still speaking. I think he must get as much time as he wants because he's the minority leader of the House. But if that's the case, the Republicans will get to ramble on and on with their closing arguments too. Ugh.
#DumpsterBillUpdate @ 5:11 AM EST
I'm not sure what is going on, but I checked my timestamps and Jeffries has been speaking for 13 minutes. Not complaining, he's making excellent points, but he's way over his allotted time (unless I missed something).
#DumpsterBillUpdate @ 5:05 AM EST
I thought Jeffries had two minutes to speak, and it seems that he's been speaking for about five minutes or more. Did divine intervention turn off the stopwatch? lol
#DumpsterBillUpdate @ 5:01 AM EST
Jeffries is making excellent points. πππ
#DumpsterBillUpdate @ 4:57 AM EST\\As the debate winds down, Jeffries is speaking for 2 minutes and making good points with a little more fire than usual.
#DumpsterBillUpdate @ 4:48 AM EST
Scalise just finished ranting, claiming that nobody on Medicaid is working, and now they'll have to get a job and "stop playing video games in their parents' basement."
Fact Check: 76% of the people now on Medicaid are employed.
#DumpsterBillUpdate @ 4:45 AM EST
Republican Steve Scalise has been rambling on and on endlessly, spewing lies faster than I can count them.
#DumpsterBillUpdate @ 4:37 AM EST
At least four Republicans have called Trump's "Tax Cuts for the Rich" bill the beginning of "The Golden Age of America."
#DumpsterBillUpdate @ 4:25 AM EST
Great closing from Linda Sanchez (D-CA): "Vote no on this steaming big pile of crap."
#DumpsterBillUpdate @ 4:22 AM EST
Slimy tactics by a smarmy little man. Just before the rule vote closed, Speaker Mikey convened the GOP holdouts and the group prayed together. He then snapped a photo of the critics & the holdouts changed their votes from βnoβ to βyesβ allowing the vote to proceed.
#DumpsterBillUpdate @ 4:17 AM EST
Richard Neal (D-MA) made some decent points. Now we are back to another GOP dude talking about "turbocharging our economy."
#DumpsterBillUpdate @ 4:11 AM EST
Another 15 minutes of speeches granted to each side. Yet another balding, bearded white dude is handling the Republican side.
#DumpsterBillUpdate @ 4:07 AM EST
The GOP is making their final statement, after the Dems made theirs. It's likely Trump's dumpster bill will be queued up for a vote shortly.
#DumpsterBillUpdate @ 4:00 AM EST
One ancient white dude after another, standing up to defend tax cuts for the wealthy. It's pretty pathetic.
#DumpsterBillUpdate @ 3:57 AM EST
Nancy Pelosi is speaking now for 1 minute.
#DumpsterBillUpdate @ 3:51 AM EST
I need some tea, and a Prozac, if I had one. Back in 15.
#DumpsterBillUpdate @ 3:47 AM EST
This is nauseating. Speaker Mikey is sitting directly behind the Republicans' podium, so every time one of them speaks, the camera shows him nodding and beaming adoringly at his GOP cronies.
#DumpsterBillUpdate @ 3:42 AM EST
I just noticed that the procedural vote to bring the bill to the floor PASSED a short time ago, 219-213. So, all the no votes and abstainers seem to have flipped to yes after Trump's scolding.
That means this is will be the real deal and the final vote.
#DumpsterBillUpdate @ 3:40 AM EST
It's very sad and difficult to listen to this, but when the next election rolls around, Dems are going royally kick some GOP ass at the polls. This bill will bury their power grab for a generation.
